Captain Marvel leads by example
Tim Edney put in a man of the match performance to lead the first team to there second three points of the season as he was asked to play centre back due to players not been available.
Pool took the lead after ten minutes as Ripon failed to clear there lines, but responded with Ben Cohen scoring a great header from 10 yards shortly after to level the game. Again Ripon had chances to put the ball out of danger wide on the right but didn’t and it resulted in a great second goal from pool as they drilled the ball past Waterworth in the Ripon goal. After the break Pool came out fighting and bossed the game for the first 15 minutes after half time. Charlie Brown made a couple of changes bringing on Tom Leeming and Kyle Baldwin who has recovered from his injured hand, and Ripon started to turn the screw. Paul Vincent leveled the game as a header was cleared by the pool defence which was met by Vincent on the edge of the box and he volleyed into the bottom left hand side of the goal. By this time Leeming and Cohen were causing havock on the flanks for Ripon and Cohen was unlucky not to be awarded a penalty as he was brought down which looked to be in the box only for the referee to give a free kick. James Charlesworth was introduced to the game which was great to see has he has been out with an injured knee for a long period, with his class and the skills and pace of Leeming and Cohen it was only a matter of time before Ripon took the lead. Kyle Baldwin picked up where he left off from pre season and scored a header after a good cross from Matty Forster, only to be followed up by a James Charlesworth converted header to see Ripon come out 4-2 winners.
Tim Edney was named man of the match, although there was a number of good performances in the second half of the game.
