Panthers Ladies v Ilkley Town (h)
Panthers edge first ever home game
Ripon City Panthers Ladies had their first ever home game Sunday against Ilkley Town. In front of an attendance of around 60 the ladies were put under early pressure, with Ilkley having a large amount of possession. Although the away team had most of the ball they failed to cause any real danger to the panthers defence and the ladies saw the half time whistle blow with the score 0-0.
The second half saw Ripon push Ilkley on to the back foot, with the brilliant Emma Douglas starting to control the midfield. Ripon broke the deadlock when Chloe Bethell anticipated a short goal kick out to the Ilkley fullback. She quickly dispossessed her and closed down on goal before calmly placing the ball into the bottom corner. A few minutes later Bethell rattled the cross bar with the ball bouncing down the wrong side of the line for Panthers liking. Rachel Kent was called on late in the game to deny Ilkley when they burst through one on one. The game then came back in to panthers control who saw the game out to remain top of the league.
Next Sunday the ladies travel to Kirkstall Crusaders 2pm kick off
