Ripon fell to their 7th defeat in the league this afternoon against an organised Headingley outfit (including ex Ripon player Rob Mortimer)
The game started poorly for Ripon conceding within 7 minutes, Headingley worked well down Ripon's left and the ball into the box found a Headingley player who finished from close range. Shouts for handball in the build up were waved away by the ref.
Ripon reacted well, Aaron Lefevre shooting wide with good work down the right. Liam Spence also hit the post from distance after 11mins. Ripon dominated the play for the majority of the 1st half but were unable to find the right ball into the final 3rd. A few headers from Woodbridge and Edmunds were the only time we made the keeper work. Ripon's back four were looking solid.
2nd half was more even although again Ripon unable to create any chances. 60 mins in saw Ripon's 1st substitute with Woodbridge making way for Fletcher.
Ripon conceded the 2nd of the game around 70 mins in, a shot from edge of box wide on the Ripon right looped over Ripon's keeper Matt Shaw to knock the stuffing out of Ripon.
With 10 to go Haswell was replaced by Hodgson and Ripon conceded a 3rd with less than 5 to go, Ripon trying to push for a goal were left short at the back and Headingley scored their 3rd of the afternoon.
On reflection we didn't create enough chances and Headingley took their chances well. We had a lot of possession but were unable to make this count. The final score probably flattered Headingley but positives to take into next weeks game from Ripon's performance.
