End of Season & Presentation Night
After a long season down at Mallorie Park, the final game was played this weekend gone, against Pool, which saw the 1st XI come out on top in a 1-0 victory.
A season which has seen cancelled games to snowy weather conditions, to boiling hot Saturday afternoon fixtures in the middle of May. Ripon City’s 1st XI finished the season in a credible 10th position, winning 9 of their 30 games played, and coming out with a -1 goal difference. It also saw the side play in two finals, winning the Charity Cup against local rivals Boroughbridge 3-1, but losing a closely contested Final against Knaresborough Town in the Whitworth Cup, coming out as 3-0 losers.
Charlie Brown’s men also carried on their Cup form into the League Cup, losing to Beeston St. Anthonys in the Semi-Final.
Nick Wield’s men playing in the Alliance Division One finished in 11th place, winning 9 of their 30 fixtures and finishing with a -4 goal difference, finishing one place above rivals Boroughbridge AFC.
Daz Dennis’ Claro Sunday team finished a credible 8th position, scoring 43 goals in 22 fixtures.
A fantastic season for all those that are involved with the club, and one that will hopefully give a stepping stone to future success next season.
