West Yorkshire Premier

Ripon City’s First XI carried on their current good form travelling in the cup Quarter-Final to current leaders Kellingley Welfare in Divison 1, of the West Yorkshire Division. Ripon City should have been 3-0 up within 20 minutes of the game, but it wasnt to be. Ripon took the lead in the first half, and a physical Kellingley team left challenges in. After the restart, Ripon started on the back foot playing into the sun, and soon found themselves giving away a pentaly, to bring the scores level with 30 minutes to play. Ripon battled hard under many questionable decisions by the officials, one involving Tim Edney being hauled down just outside the area with a clear one-on-one run at goal, only for the defender to be given a yellow card. With 12 minutes of the game to be played, a moment of class, was shown at Kellingley Welfare. Tim Edney controlling the ball on his chest, under tight pressure, taking it on his knee, and the swiveling on his left leg, to unleash the perfect volley into the top corner of the net. Ripon City move on into the Semi-Finals.
